LiFePO₄ (LFP) cathode is one of the most widely used cathode materials in commercial lithium-ion batteries due to its excellent thermal stability, long cycle life, and safety. However, its relatively low specific capacity limits the energy density of cells utilizing this material. To address this limitation, replacing the conventional graphite anode with prelithiated silicon oxide (SiOx) presents a promising strategy to enhance overall energy density. In this work, we propose an electrochemical prelithiation approach employing a scalable and practical chemical system to maximize the energy density of cells incorporating an LFP cathode.
