A database of test vectors with simulated real-world driving was created within a pre-competitive working group, supported by Consortium for Battery Innovation (CBI). Its purpose is the validation of algorithms for performance prediction of the 12V PbA battery in vehicles for safety-relevant profiles (Safety State-of-Function, SSoF). Here, a small subset was analyzed for parameter changes to explore potentials for improved prediction.

The database is a valuable source for analysis of battery parameters and their change with respect to battery (ageing progress), environmental (temperature) and operation condition (voltage setpoint, discharge/charge history). This was shown for resistive and capacitive parameters of simple EEC models. Evaluation of discharge stimuli can increase prediction accuracy while taking advantage of fast transient SSoF recovery to improve system availability.
