Marc Fricke studied chemistry at the Universities of Bielefeld and Munich and at the Weizmann Institute of Science in Rehovot, Israel. Following his doctorate in Supramolecular Materials Chemistry at the University of Bielefeld in 2004, he took up a postdoctoral position at BASF at the Institut de Science et d’Ingénierie Supramoléculaires (ISIS) in Strasbourg, France. In 2007, he moved to BASF Polyurethanes GmbH in Lemförde as laboratory manager and took over the project management for the development and production of the first polyurethane aerogel, which was marketed globally under the product name SLENTITE. Since June 2021, Marc Fricke has continued to manage BASF’s spun-off aerogel activities as CEO and co-founder of aerogel-it GmbH in Osnabrück.
