Batterieingenieure GmbH

The Battery Engineers – Your expert team for batteries.
BatterieIngenieure GmbH was founded in 2015 as an association of experienced engineers and physicists from battery research and manufacturing. We offer services for testing, modelling, diagnostics, battery development and small series production and advise companies on these areas. We deal with all electrochemical energy storage systems (primary and secondary batteries), as well as supercapacitors. As part of our integrated approach, we include thermal and mechanical storage systems under systemic and economic issues.
Services.
BatterieIngenieure GmbH offers battery-related services to its customers. The range of services includes testing of cells and batteries (electrical, thermal, mechanical as well as safety tests), algorithm development in diagnostics for lead-acid and Li-ion batteries as well as the development of simulation models. Furthermore, we advise on the optimal choice of storage technology, on questions regarding the safe operation of your storage as well as product identifcation and carry out analyses of failure causes.
Furthermore, we subject energy storage systems to electrical, thermal, and mechanical tests, while ensuring their operational safety. In doing so, we provide a precise characterisation of your specimens regarding durability, performance and safety. Besides initial characterisation, this helps ensure consistent product quality as part of quality assurance.
Since 2003, our battery development and manufacturing team deals with highly specialized Li-Ion battery systems for various applications. In battery development and manufacturing, we distinguish basically three areas: prototype development, limited productions series, and mass-series production. Component producibility and cost constitute decisive criteria in the latter case.
BatterieIngenieure is extremely pleased with the global appreciation and demand for its expertise. Our customers and partners are leading players in numerous industries including, among others, automotive, energy, maritime transport, aviation, etc. The close cooperation with the Department of Electrochemical Energy Conversion and Storage Systems at RWTH Aachen allows the integration of current research topics in our projects via state-of-the-art technologies.

FEV

FEV is a leading international, independent service provider for hardware and software in vehicle and powertrain development, as well as the energy industry. Pfeiffer Vacuum

Vacuum Technology and Vacuum Pumps from the leader
For 130 years, the name Pfeiffer Vacuum has served as a guarantee for advanced vacuum technology, high quality vacuum solutions and first-class service. We offer a wide range of process pumps for vacuum drying and electrolyte filling in R&D and Industry environments with outstanding performances for short cycle times and efficiency. With our leak detectors, we are able to leak test battery components, all cell types, battery modules and packs as well as cooling units. Furthermore, baseline investigations in the fields of humidity measurement, permeation and end-of-line testing are possible.
Li-ion batteries have become an integral part of our everyday life. They are used in mobile devices such as laptops, smartphones and other wearables. Batteries are even powering our cars. But how are these compact power storage devices manufactured and what does it all have to do with vacuum and leak detection?
The application of vacuum is required at various stages of production in the manufacture of Li-ion batteries: Vacuum is required during the mixing process of the so-called slurry, which is applied to the battery cell electrodes. The coil drying and electrolyte filling also takes place under vacuum.
In general, the pumps generate the vacuum which is needed for the different production processes. The pumps have to have a high resistance to poisonous and toxic fumes in drying, filling and formation processes. Pfeiffer Vacuum pumps generally are known to be robust and efficient to ensure sustainable production of Li-ion batteries.

EL-CELL

We Advance Battery Research.
EL-CELL develops laboratory equipment for research of energy storage systems, with particular focus on lithium-ion technology and supercapacitors.
We are distinguished by our expertise in electrochemistry and mechanical engineering as well as our eager ambition to develop innovative products. We strongly believe that reliable and simple 3-electrode measurements are the most efficient way to develop new battery materials. This approach proves to be particularly useful in our PAT (Parallel Testing) series, a modular test cell system with the highest standards of efficiency and ease of use. In addition, we offer a variety of in-situ test cells as well as tools for manufacturing battery components in the laboratory. Our complete range of services is rounded out with our own potentiostats, which are precisely tailored to the special requirements of battery research. This allows us to provide you with the complete set-up from a single source to carry out electrochemical experiments.

Safion GmbH

Safion develops battery diagnostic solutions for customers to optimize battery applications and safety along the entire value chain – from quality testing to lifetime prediction and condition assessment to second-life testing. The measurement process lays the foundation for a fast, cost and resource-saving technology to improve battery performance. In a matter of seconds, Safion’s Real-Time EIS method can measure, with superimposed excitation, up to 32 impedance points simultaneously. In that manner, the measurement time is reduced from minutes, as with conventional methods, to seconds.

WKM Wärmeprozess- und Klimaprüftechnik Michel GmbH & Co. KG

For more than 25 years, we have been serving our customers with sound know-how in the fields of materials testing, research and development, and industrial manufacturing technology. In the last 5 years in particular, we have realised numerous projects in the field of electromobility and fuel cell research. A wide variety of test standards and requirements for e.g. power electronics, batteries or even electric motors were used and implemented.
We will show you which test equipment you can use for your reproducible functional and endurance tests and support you in the project planning and design of your test concepts when it comes to the product groups of ice water shock test systems, IP protection class test benches, climatic test chambers, corrosion test systems, surge water test systems, temperature test chambers, temperature control units for gear oil, temperature control units for water/glycol, vacuum chambers, heating cabinets.

ZEISS eMobility Solutions – From energy to eMotion

Helmholtz Institute Münster (HI MS; IMD-4) of Forschungszentrum Jülich!

Welcome to Helmholtz Institute Münster (HI MS; IMD-4) of Forschungszentrum Jülich!
As the lifeblood of every battery cell, the electrolyte ensures that all components work effectively together. By electrolyte research, Helmholtz Institute Münster makes a significant contribution to the success of mobility and energy transition. When researching and developing innovative battery cell technologies, scientists at HI MS also ask the key question: How can we ensure the cost-effective and long-term storage of large quantities of generated electricity using a small amount of space?
The priority areas of research are the five classes of electrolytes: solid anionic electrolytes, solid cationic electrolytes, polymer electrolytes, liquid electrolytes, and hybrid electrolytes. HI MS’ existing expertise and infrastructure covers a broad spectrum of the theory, chemistry, and technology behind electrolytes, battery cells, and battery systems.
