The BLB is a research center of the TU Braunschweig. The research spectrum covers the entire value-added cycle from material production to cell manufacturing and recycling to close the material cycle. The competences of 9 institutes of the TU Braunschweig, the TU Clausthal, the Leibniz Universität Hannover, the Fraunhofer Institute for Surface Engineering and Thin Films IST and the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt Braunschweig are bundled here. Currently, more than 160 employees research on 1,500 m² pilot production. We look forward to your visit.

EKTechnologies liefert Lösungen rund um das Thema „Messsysteme erneuerbare Energien“. Wir führen ultraportable Potentiostate für die Forschung an elektrochemischen Sensoren, über hochspezialisierte Ein- und Mehrkanalpotentiostate für die Elektrochemie, bis hin zu All-in-One Brennstoffzellen-Teststände. Auch kundenspezifische und neue Themen hinsichtlich hoher Ströme (über 100 A) oder Impedanzanalysen mit >120 Kanälen sind kein Problem. EL-CELL develops laboratory equipment for research of energy storage systems, with particular focus on lithium-ion technology and supercapacitors.
We are distinguished by our expertise in electrochemistry and mechanical engineering as well as our eager ambition to develop innovative products. We strongly believe that reliable and simple 3-electrode measurements are the most efficient way to develop new battery materials. This approach proves to be particularly useful in our PAT (Parallel Testing) series, a modular test cell system with the highest standards of efficiency and ease of use. In addition, we offer a variety of in-situ test cells as well as tools for manufacturing battery components in the laboratory. Our complete range of services is rounded out with our own potentiostats, which are precisely tailored to the special requirements of battery research. Safion entwickelt Batteriediagnoselösungen für Kunden entlang der gesamten Wertschöpfungskette – von Qualitätsprüfung über Lebensdauerprognose und Zustandsbewertung bis zu Second-Life-Tests, um stets den Betrieb und die Sicherheit von Batterien zu optimieren. Mit dem Messverfahren wird das Fundament für eine schnelle, kosten- und ressourcensparende technologische Leistungssteigerungen in der Batterieverwendung gelegt. In Sekundenschnelle kann die Real-Time-EIS-Methode von Safion, mit einer überlagerten Anregung, von bis zu 32 Impedanzpunkte gleichzeitig messen. Auf diese Weise wird die Messzeit von Minuten von, wie bei herkömmlichen Verfahren, auf Sekunden reduziert.

As the lifeblood of every battery cell, the electrolyte ensures that all components work effectively together. By electrolyte research, Helmholtz Institute Münster makes a significant contribution to the success of mobility and energy transition. When researching and developing innovative battery cell technologies, scientists at HI MS also ask the key question: How can we ensure the cost-effective and long-term storage of large quantities of generated electricity using a small amount of space?
The priority areas of research are the five classes of electrolytes: solid anionic electrolytes, solid cationic electrolytes, polymer electrolytes, liquid electrolytes, and hybrid electrolytes. HI MS’ existing expertise and infrastructure covers a broad spectrum of the theory, chemistry, and technology behind electrolytes, battery cells, and battery systems.
