From Recycled Graphite to Better Batteries: Research Meets Exchange in Aachen

Closing the battery material loop requires more than recovering valuable raw materials. Recycled materials must also be processed in ways that restore the properties needed for reliable battery performance.

At Advanced Battery Power 2026, Felix Frobart of the Institute for Particle Technology at the Technical University of Braunschweig presented research on remodifying recycled graphite with amorphous carbon from organic precursors. His work, which explores a practical route towards improved particle characteristics and battery performance, received first prize in the conference’s Poster Award.

The award illustrates the importance of the poster exhibition as a forum for emerging battery research. Researchers can present specialised findings to an international expert audience, receive direct feedback and discuss how scientific approaches may contribute to more sustainable industrial processes.

Advanced Battery Power will bring the battery community together again at Eurogress Aachen from April 7 to 9, 2027. For research institutions, presenters and exhibitors, the event offers a focused platform for making new ideas visible and turning scientific results into professional dialogue and future collaboration.
