Lithium plating is a safety and performance concern in lithium-ion cells. This study investigates the effects of temperature and charging current rate on lithium plating, aiming to develop an index to assess a cell’s susceptibility to plating. A quick electrical test was designed to induce lithium plating under varying conditions. For this, a constant temperature setup was implemented to maintain the cell’s self-heating influence negligible.
