ZEISS eMobility Solutions – From energy to eMotion
Helmholtz Institute Münster (HI MS; IMD-4) of Forschungszentrum Jülich!

Welcome to Helmholtz Institute Münster (HI MS; IMD-4) of Forschungszentrum Jülich!
As the lifeblood of every battery cell, the electrolyte ensures that all components work effectively together. By electrolyte research, Helmholtz Institute Münster makes a significant contribution to the success of mobility and energy transition. When researching and developing innovative battery cell technologies, scientists at HI MS also ask the key question: How can we ensure the cost-effective and long-term storage of large quantities of generated electricity using a small amount of space?
The priority areas of research are the five classes of electrolytes: solid anionic electrolytes, solid cationic electrolytes, polymer electrolytes, liquid electrolytes, and hybrid electrolytes. HI MS’ existing expertise and infrastructure covers a broad spectrum of the theory, chemistry, and technology behind electrolytes, battery cells, and battery systems.

Automated Cell Finishing Lines
PEC has been a frontrunner in the delivery of turnkey automated cell finishing lines for the growing number of electrical vehicle programs worldwide. These cell finishing lines cover all operations from right after the electrolyte filling, such as soaking, formation, degassing, ageing, grading and sorting and supply the pack assembly with a steady flow of completely finished and sorted cells. PEC offers standard solutions for pouch, prismatic and cylindrical cells.
MEET Battery Research Center at the University of Münster

MEET (Münster Electrochemical Energy Technology) Battery Research Center at the University of Münster is one of the foremost battery research centers in Germany and one of the leading drivers of top-level research internationally. With the aim of helping the urgently needed turnaround in the energy and transport sectors to succeed, the research at MEET covers the optimization of the market-dominating lithium-ion technology, the further development of other materials, and promising new approaches such as solid-state batteries. What will mark out the battery of the future? High energy density, fast charging capability, longer lifecycle, maximum safety, improved sustainability and the lowest possible costs. Flexibly adapted to individual needs, the MEET scientists offer industry as well es national and international scientific institutions opportunities for cooperation along the entire battery supply chain.
C3 Prozess- und Analysentechnik GmbH

C3 Prozess- und Analysentechnik GmbH offers measurement and laboratory technology around the battery application area. Gamry Instruments’ systems (electrochemistry, spectroelectrochemistry) are used to characterize batteries and components in R&D and QC. Software packages such as EIS (Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy) are used here. Measuring cells and other accessories complete the Echemistry program. THINKY’s highly efficient centrifugal mixers enable bubble-free production of e.g. electrode pastes. The thermal conductivity measurement systems from Hot Disk AB can be used to characterize both pure materials and composite materials with regard to their thermophysical properties for thermal management.
