A Conference Worth Returning To: Gerhard Hörpel on Advanced Battery Power
Scientific quality is shaped not only by the presentations on stage, but also by the different perspectives represented in the room. For Dr Markus Börner of MEET Battery Research Center at the University of Münster, the defining strength of Advanced Battery Power is its balanced participation from industry and academia.
This combination creates what Börner describes as vibrant technical discussion—during the conference sessions as well as in the breaks between them. Research findings are examined alongside practical experience, industrial requirements and the questions currently shaping battery development.
Börner contributed to the 2026 conference as a keynote speaker. In his presentation on the thermal safety of lithium batteries, he addressed the difficult balance between technological ambition and acceptable risk. His research at MEET focuses on the degradation and safety properties of lithium-ion batteries and their individual components.
Advanced Battery Power will return to the Eurogress in Aachen from 7 to 9 April 2027. Once again, experts from research, development and industry will come together to discuss findings and innovations across the battery value chain. Börner’s invitation highlights a central benefit of attending: the opportunity not only to hear about new developments, but to examine and advance them through direct professional exchange.
