The phenomenon of thermal runaway in lithium-ion batteries underscores a pressing safety concern. In response, we have engineered a unique spherical test bench to facilitate experiments in this domain. Given the inherent flammability of gases generated during thermal runaway, the prerequisite for inertizing the test bench before conducting experiments becomes evident. In this poster, we present a comprehensive study of an innovative 5-layer inlet structure meticulously designed to achieve rapid and efficient inertization of the test bench within a constrained 20-second timeframe. The study seamlessly integrates fluid dynamic simulations and experimental investigations, culminating in the presentation of the results.
