Dual Cameras have become ubiquitous in modern smartphones, enabling a multitude of image enhancement techniques. In this study, we explore which of these dual camera enhancement techniques can be transferred to dual thermal cameras in the realm of battery research. Three image enhancement techniques have been identified as relevant: image averaging, reflections and image stitching.
In summary, dual thermal cameras offer many possibilities to enhance thermal images of batteries without negatively impacting framerate or resolution. For the three possible identified techniques orientation and distances of the test setup have to be known, which is often a given in battery research. The techniques all need different thermal camera orientations, which is solvable by more thermal cameras.
