Dr. Chengdu Liang received his PhD in chemistry in 2005 from the University of Tennessee Knoxville. He started his career in electric energy storage at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) since 2005. He was a senior staff scientist at ORNL and led a number of basic and applied projects that were funded by the US department of energy. His research spans from novel electrode materials, solid electrolytes, battery chemistry, in situ and ex situ characterizations, nanomaterials, and catalysis. He is currently the R&D director and the deputy dean at the Research Institute of Ningde Amperex Technology Limited, one of the major global battery manufactories for lithium ion batteries. Dr. Liang won a number of awards including the 2010 R&D 100 Award, Energy Storage Program Manager’s Recognition Award, ORNL Significant Event Award, CNMS Distinguished Scientific Contribution Award etc. Dr. Liang published over 90 scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals and received more than 7000 citations. He holds 20 US and world patents.
